How do I transfer funds in and out of my International Shares Account?

To transfer funds to or from your International Shares Account, follow the steps below:

  • Log into CommSec and navigate to 'Portfolio'
  • Locate your International Shares Account and select 'Transfer Funds'

On the Transfers page, you will be able to specify the desired amount you wish to transfer from your linked bank account, into your International Shares Account. To request the transfer:

  • Select 'Transfer Funds' either to your 'International Wallet' or to your 'Bank Account'
  • Enter the amount you want to transfer in Australian Dollars (AUD)
  • The funds will be withdrawn from your linked bank account and deposited into your International Shares Account or vice versa
  • Upon the transfer's completion, your 'Transferable funds' will be updated

Before you place a trade, you must first have funds available to trade. This will be displayed as 'Tradable funds'. All funds must be in Australian dollars. We do not accept fund transfers in international currency. If you do not have sufficient funds in your linked bank account, the transfer will not be processed.

How long does it take to transfer funds to or from my International Shares Account?

Deposit and withdrawal of funds are typically processed immediately, but it may take up to a minute after submission for your balance to update. Transfers submitted over the weekend or after market close (evening Eastern time) may not be processed immediately, and your balance will update the next business day.

How long does it take when transferring funds to or from my International Shares Account during maintenance periods?

During weekday afternoon and weekend maintenance periods, transfers from your bank account to your International Wallet will be debited from your bank account immediately. On weekdays, your International Wallet balance will take up to two hours to update, while on weekends, it will update the next business day. Transfers from your International Wallet to your bank account will be delayed for up to two hours on weekdays and until the next business day on weekends.

Select 'Transfer History' to view the status of your 'Transfer Funds' requests.
